Frequently Asked Questions

Everything about how ChunkTrack works: getting started, goal setting, your personalised Chunk Plan, meal and workout tracking, progress, and team feeds.

Getting Started

What is ChunkTrack?

ChunkTrack is a motivational fitness app that makes calorie and workout tracking less of a chore. The app has a character named The Chunk, and the goal is simple: beat The Chunk every day by hitting the targets you set. Log meals four easy ways, track workouts including GPS runs, walks and rides, weigh in on your own schedule, and team up with friends who see the wins you choose to share.

Who is The Chunk?

The Chunk is the pink villain on your screen and the voice of every excuse you have ever heard. Skip the log, skip the session, round the snack down to zero: that is The Chunk talking. ChunkTrack puts it on screen so you have something to beat. Every day you hit your targets, The Chunk loses. It never stood a chance.

How do I create an account?

Sign up with an email address and password, or sign in with Google or Apple. ChunkTrack is for adults aged 18 and over.

Why does ChunkTrack ask for my birth month and year instead of my age?

It is the least data that keeps your plan accurate. A typed age goes stale as years pass; your birth month and year let ChunkTrack compute it fresh, so your calorie plan stays right without you remembering to update anything. The exact day is never asked for and never stored.

What happens when I first set up the app?

You build your Profile & Goals: name, sex, height, current weight, goal weight, how active you are, and the weekly pace you want. From those, ChunkTrack generates your personalised Chunk Plan with a daily calorie target and macro split. You can revisit and edit everything later from Profile & Goals.

Is ChunkTrack available to download now?

ChunkTrack is in closed beta on iPhone and Android ahead of launch. Tap NOTIFY ME anywhere on this site and you will hear the moment it opens up.

Profile & Goals

How is my daily calorie target calculated?

Your target is built from your profile: your body's estimated resting needs, a baseline for ordinary daily life, plus the calories your daily step goal and your activity level are worth. It updates when your details change, so the plan tracks you, not a snapshot of you.

Can I set my own calorie target instead?

Yes. A manual calorie target overrides the calculated plan and everything in the app follows your number.

Will ChunkTrack ever give me an unsafely low target?

No. Whatever pace you pick, your target never goes below a safety floor based on your body's estimated resting needs. If your logging suggests you are eating well under your needs, the app tells you plainly instead of congratulating you. Fuelling enough is part of the plan.

How do macro targets work?

Choose a preset split or set custom protein, carb and fat percentages. Your macro targets appear across Fuel so you can see each one filling through the day.

Can I use ChunkTrack to gain weight, not lose it?

Yes. Set a goal weight above your current weight and the whole app flips direction with you: staying at or above target counts as a win, and progress colours track movement toward your goal, not just the number going down.

Can I change my units?

Yes. Weight in kilograms or pounds, height in centimetres or feet and inches, and distances in the unit you prefer. Change them any time in Profile & Goals.

Can I edit my profile photo and username?

Yes. Your username is claimed once and is how friends find you. Your profile photo can be set, cropped and changed from Profile & Goals.

Today

What does the big number on Today mean?

Calories remaining for the day: your target, minus what you have eaten, plus any extra activity credit you have earned. Training earns it back, so a session buys real room. Keep it at zero or better and the day is yours, not The Chunk's.

What is the EXTRA number?

Your plan already includes the activity you told ChunkTrack about, like your step goal and how often you train. EXTRA is only the activity beyond that, credited once, with no double counting. It keeps the maths honest while still rewarding a bigger day.

How do streaks work?

Log anything in a day and the day counts: a meal, a weigh-in, steps you logged, a workout, or water. The streak is your run of consecutive counted days. If you have not logged yet today, the streak shows yesterday's count rather than dropping to zero; today is still yours to win.

Do auto-synced steps and weigh-ins count toward my streak?

No. Steps and weigh-ins that arrive automatically from your health platform still show in your charts and stats, but the streak counts the things you actually did in the app. A scale syncing overnight is not a habit; your log is.

Why did my calories number turn red?

The day has gone past your target in the direction that opposes your goal. It resets tomorrow. One red day is information, not a verdict.

How do weigh-in reminders work?

You set your own weigh-in schedule, and on a due day ChunkTrack opens the weigh-in screen so recording takes seconds. You can weigh in any other day too, and back-date an entry you missed.

Fuel

What are the four ways to log a meal?

Type It: write the meal like you would say it. Say It: speak it out loud. Snap It: photograph the plate. Scan It: scan a barcode. Every route ends in a logged meal with calories and macros, filed under breakfast, lunch, dinner or snacks.

Do I have to weigh my food?

No. Weighing food is overrated. Describe the meal in plain words and ChunkTrack's AI estimates calories and macros for you. Estimates plus consistency beat a kitchen scale you abandon by Thursday, and The Chunk is counting on you abandoning it.

How does Say It work?

Tap the mic and talk. Your recording is transcribed and analysed in one continuous step, so a chicken wrap and a flat white is a logged meal by the time you have said it.

How does Snap It work?

Point your camera at the plate. The AI reads the meal, breaks it into items and logs calories and macros for each. Clear, well-lit photos work best.

How does Scan It work?

Scan the barcode on the pack. ChunkTrack looks it up in Open Food Facts, a database of millions of products, you set the portion, and it is logged with full nutrition.

How accurate is the AI, and can I correct it?

The AI gives honest estimates, and you stay in charge: every analysis lands on a review screen where you can adjust portions and remove items before anything is saved. Logs can be edited afterwards too.

Does logging work offline?

Manual logging works offline: meals, weigh-ins, steps and workouts save on your phone and sync when you are back. AI analysis needs a connection, and if you are offline the app says so immediately instead of spinning.

Are there limits on AI analyses?

Yes, there is a daily allowance for AI analyses, with a separate allowance for voice transcription, and the app shows your usage so nothing is a surprise. A failed analysis is not charged.

Train

What are the ways to log a workout?

Quick log a common workout in a couple of taps, build a session exercise by exercise with sets, describe the whole thing in plain words or out loud and let the AI structure it, or start a GPS workout and let your phone track the route.

How do GPS workouts work?

Choose cycling, running or walking from Train and ChunkTrack records your route live with distance and climb. When you finish, the workout is logged with a map of where you went.

What are route cards?

Every GPS workout gets a branded route card: your route drawn on a map, ready to view full screen or share. It also appears with the workout in your feed for friends to react to.

What is Describe It?

Tell ChunkTrack what you did, typed or spoken, in whatever words come naturally. The AI turns it into a structured workout with a name, duration, intensity and calories, which you review before saving.

Do workouts earn calories back?

Activity beyond what your plan already accounts for is credited back to your day, counted once. The plan is built so that credit is real, not double counted.

Will a logged walk double count with my steps?

No. Step-based workouts carry a counted-in-today's-steps setting, so a walk that is already in your step total does not get counted twice.

Do smartwatch workouts come in automatically?

Yes, if you connect your health platform. Workouts written to Apple Health on iPhone or Health Connect on Android flow into ChunkTrack, including sessions recorded by your watch.

Journey

What lives in Journey?

Your whole story in one place: weight trend, streak, a calendar of your days, achievements, step history, your GPS routes, and progress photos. On the tough days it is the proof that you are winning.

How does the weight change number work?

The Journey hero shows your weight change over the window you pick: the whole journey, or the last week, month or year. It only turns red when the change moves against your goal, so someone building weight up never gets punished for gaining.

What do the calendar colours mean?

Green is a day you logged food and landed on the right side of your target. Red is a day that went the other way. A day with a workout but no food logged is marked as an exercise day. An empty day is simply missed, and missed days are how The Chunk gets comfortable.

What are achievements?

Milestones that unlock as you go, from first logs to streaks and progress marks. Once earned they stay earned, and you can share the moment to your feed.

How do progress photos work?

Take or add progress photos over time and look back through them in Journey whenever you need the evidence. They are yours alone unless you choose to share one as a post.

Can I weigh in more than once a day, or back-date a weigh-in?

Both. Multiple entries in a day are fine, the latest one stands for that day, and you can date an entry to the day it was really for.

Do smart scale weigh-ins appear in Journey?

Yes, if you connect your health platform, weigh-ins recorded there land in your chart and history automatically. They plot and count in your weight stats, while your streak stays about what you log yourself.

Feed

How do I add friends?

Search their username, or the exact email address they signed up with, then send a request they accept. Progress is easier to hold with witnesses, and The Chunk hates witnesses.

Why can't I find my friend by their email?

If they signed up with Apple and chose Hide My Email, their account is registered under a private relay address, not the email you know. Search their username instead; that always works.

Who can see my posts?

Your friends, and only your friends. There is no public feed and strangers cannot browse your activity. Within your team, you control which categories are visible at all.

What appears in the feed?

The activity you and your friends choose to share: logged days, workouts including GPS route cards, weigh-ins, achievements, and posts written by hand. Filters let you narrow the feed to what you care about.

How do reactions work?

React to any post with 💪 🔥 👏 🐷 😂. One tap adds yours, and a long press on a reaction shows who is behind it.

How do comments work?

Comment on any post you can see, reply to a comment to start a thread, and mention friends by their username. Comments can be reacted to as well.

What are the sharing controls?

Five switches, each independent: activity, meals, weight, streak, and an anti-social mode that takes you out of feeds and discovery entirely while the app keeps working just for you. Friends whose meals are switched off simply see that meals are set to private.

Can I block or report someone?

Yes. Blocking removes a person from your world in the app, and posts, comments or accounts can be reported for review from where you see them.

Data & Privacy

Who can access my data?

You, and your friends for exactly the categories you have switched on. Every record is protected by per-user access controls enforced on the server, not just in the app.

What happens to my meal photos?

A meal photo is sent to our server only to estimate calories and macros, and it is not retained after processing. The log keeps the numbers, not the picture.

Do I have to connect Apple Health or Health Connect?

No. Health platform access is entirely optional. Steps can be logged manually, workouts can be quick logged or described, and weigh-ins typed in. Connecting just makes the automatic version of all of that flow in.

When does ChunkTrack use my location?

Only while you are recording a GPS workout, including in the background during that workout so the route survives your screen locking. No workout running means no location use, and GPS workouts themselves are optional.

Is my data used for advertising or sold?

No. Nothing is used for advertising and nothing is sold. The full detail of what is collected and why is written plainly in the privacy policy.

How do I delete my account?

In the app: open the menu, go to Account, and choose Delete Account. It asks you to confirm, then deletes and signs you out.

Where can I read the full policies?

The privacy policy, terms of service and health disclaimer are published on this site, linked in the footer, and written to be accurate rather than reassuring.
